Julia Darling
In Retrospect

Julia was the tutor at a number of workshops for doctors and other medical practicioners. This work got a favourable review in the Education Guardian of February 3 2004. Here is an example of the feedback from these courses and the publicity for a typical one:

Reflective Practice Through Writing

"I have found a sense of integration in allowing the creative part of myself, which I had stifled, to energise my life and work"

"The writing allows you to touch things you otherwise wouldn't"

"This is an opportunity to inhabit the unknown"

Reflective Practice is a cornerstone of health professionals' continuing education. By reflecting on their practice and working relationships, doctors can develop their understanding, knowledge, empathy and skills.

Doing this through writing can allow access to thoughts, feelings and understandings about work not easily accessed in other ways. Discussing writing within a group can produce further insight into one's own and others' work. At the same time you can develop your own ability to communicate in writing.
